We believe in creating community.
We support our local high schools.
La Luma Academy works with our local high schools to provide education and leadership within the hair industry. In the past, we have worked in the classrooms of local cosmetology classes, as well as invited students from these schools to our facility where our students provide an educational experience for these classes. Recently, we have begun working with local school boards to host highschool cosmetology students into our Academy, providing an authentic, hands-on learning opportunity for them.
Our vision is to support the teachers of cosmetology classes in developing curriculum and technical skill that reflects the needs of our ever-changing industry. By working with our local high schools, we mentor, support and give back to the next generation of hairstylists. La Luma Academy values experiences that provide our students with opportunities to practice leading and teaching.
We volunteer in our community.
Our students provide hair and makeup services for community events such as; fashion shows, local plays, and professional photoshoots. We participate in events that provide a new and unique experience for our students; an experience they could not have on our salon floor.
If you have an event that would support the growth and education of our students, contact us.
We give back.
Each year La Luma Salon and Academy gives back to a local cause or charity. We have supported the following:
- Students of St. John Bosco
- Mothers of YMCA TAPPs (Teenage Parent Program)
- Adolescent Program at Portage Elora, ON
- Guelph Food Bank
